Congo president Denis Sassou Nguesso has been reelected in a first round vote, extending his 32 years in power, the interior minister said Thursday.
Interior minister Raymond Zephyrin Mboulou announced the results on national television at 3:30 am (0230 GMT), giving the incumbent 60 percent of the vote, following elections held on Sunday.
On Wednesday, two opposition candidates rejected the partial results that gave Sassou Nguesso 67 percent of the vote.
