Police fired on Thursday on protesters opposed to President Joseph Kabila in the town of Goma in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, wounding at least two students, an AFP correspondent witnessed.
Four groups of demonstrators, each comprised of hundreds of people, gathered to march in the main town of North Kivu province, after four days of deadly protests in the capital Kinshasa. Anti-riot police opened fire several times and clashed with stone-throwing protesters late in the morning.
