An Israeli air raid has killed a senior figure in the Lebanese Shiite militant group Hezbollah, Samir Kuntar, near the Syrian capital, the group said.
Kuntar was convicted by Israel of the 1979 murder of three civilians, including a little girl, but was freed in 2008 as part of a prisoner swap.
He was killed on Saturday night "when the Zionist enemy planes bombed the building where he lived in Jaramana," southeast of Damascus, Hezbollah said in a statement.
