Qutar announced on Tuesday sending a consignment of liquefied natural gas from Port of Ras Laffan to Egypt to alleviate suffering of Egyptians from shortage of energy during summer season.
This batch is sent as part of implementing the instructions of the Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al0Thani to relieve the Egyptian people
Qatar News Agency (QNA) quoted an official source in the Qatari Foreign Ministry as saying this shipment of gas will contribute to alleviating the energy shortage crisis by supplying the power plants in Egypt.
Such power plants were hit by extreme shortage of gas during summer, a season during which consumption of energy increases, the source added.
Efforts are exerted to complete needed procedures to send remaining shipments of liquefied gas to Egypt.
In June 10, Qatar made an agreement with Egypt to send five shipments of natural liquefied gas as a grant to be handed to the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC).
