The pumping device which is under construction with the aim of facilitating oil exports from the seven oil fields located in the West of Karoun region will launch operation in January 2014.
"At present, Azadegan oil field’s output, as one of the oil fields located in the West Karoun region, is exported routinely, but when the other oil fields of the region, including Yaran and Yadavaran, launch operation, their oil will be transferred via new infrastructures, including the West Karoun pumping facility," supervisor of the project Hamid Babayee told the oil ministry's website.
He said the facility is expected to come online ahead of schedule, adding that the project was slated to be accomplished in a two-year period, but it was later decided to be accomplished in one year.
The pumping facility is under construction with the aim of transferring respectively 254 and 460 thousand barrels of light and heavy crude oil per day from Northern and Southern oil fields, as well as the oil produced in Badar Karkheh, Darkhoveyn, Jofair, Yadavaran, Azar and Changuleh fields.
The official noted that the project has made progress by 28 percent now, adding that there are three pumping stations on the way of two 30 and 36-inch pipelines that have been laid for exportation in the West Karoun oil region.
He said West Karoun pumping station is being built in an area covering 165.000 meters and includes 2 heavy oil storage tanks, 2 light oil storage tanks, 2 water storage tanks for firefighting, 244 kilometers of 32-inch pipeline and 43 kilometers of 36-inch pipeline, a power generator and 400 kilometers of cables.
He stipulated Rampco and Energy Industry Consultant Engineers are involved in the project as contractors while Pars Engineering Company is in charge of supervision and consultancy.
