Abu Dhabi Ports, the master developer, operator and manager of ports and Khalifa Industrial Zone in the emirate, has won the Training Award for the second consecutive year at the Lloyd's List Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Awards, one of the most important maritime industry events in the region.

The event recognises the industry's successes, setting a benchmark for excellence while rewarding innovative ideas and concepts that have made positive changes.

The accolade was presented to Abu Dhabi Ports during the awards night ceremony held recently at the Armani Hotel in Dubai in the presence of decision makers from the maritime industry in the region.

The Training Award acknowledged Abu Dhabi Ports' outstanding commitment to training its employees and its contribution towards improving training standards across the maritime industry as a whole. The judges considered the company's initiatives to invest in new facilities and courses, innovative training solutions and a sustained and effective approach to developing quality staff in the maritime sector.

Abu Dhabi Ports' internationally recognised Maritime Training Centre offers a portfolio of marine and port training courses to help the ports and terminals in the region improve the safety and security of their operations.

Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports, stressed that training and development of human resources is one of Abu Dhabi Ports' strategic priorities and thanked the Maritime Training Centre team for their dedicated efforts, saying, "Our wise leadership has provided us with resources to achieve excellence and with their guidance and support, we aim to continuously deliver. Training and development is a crucial element in effective port management and ensuring operational efficiencies at our ports and the ports across the region.

"Receiving this award for the second consecutive year encourages us to further invest in efforts to spread the culture of performance excellence, not only at the level of our employees, but also to all who operate within the maritime industry in the region" added Captain Al Shamisi.
