Egyptian power companies have a chance to contribute to projects in Iraq to install smart meters in the Arab country, the electricity minister has said. Ahmed Imam was recently in Iraq, where he signed a number of agreements to activate cooperation between the two sides. It was agreed that a committee of Egyptian expertise be formed to visit Iraq to get firsthand information about its power needs, Imam said in
statements on Friday. Egypt and Iraq will establish a joint electricity firm, the minister
added. Iraqi officials welcomed Egyptian investments in their country and vowed to ease all obstacles facing businessmen, Imam noted.
