Egypt's ambassador to Togo Karim Sharif delivered Wednesday an Egyptian agricultural aid to Togolese Minister of Agriculture Colonel Agadazi.

The aid included 1500 tons of corn and rice seeds. It came in response to directives of Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry to boost the Egyptian presence in the African continent, and helping states in Africa with all necessary aid, the Foreign Ministry said in statement.

The aid was delivered in a celebration the Togolese Ministry of Agriculture held with the presence of all the ministry's senior officials.

Colonel Agadazi delivered a speech in which he paid tribute to the Egyptian government for this generous move, which proved the sincerity of Egypt in supporting Africa.

He expressed his country's desire in boosting the water and agricultural cooperation with Egypt in the fields of irrigation, livestock as well as exchanging expertise, and training sessions.

Sharif reiterated the Egyptian move aimed at restoring Egypt's leading role in Africa, stressing it was the beginning of more cooperation with Togo.

The ambassador also expressed his country's interest in establishing a joint farm in Togo.
