New car registrations in Germany, a key measure of demand in one of the most crucial sectors of Europe's top economy, fell in April, data showed on Monday.
A total 274,097 new cars were registered last month, a drop of 3.6 percent compared with the same month in 2013, according to data compiled by the federal automobile agency, KBA.
In March, new registrations had risen by 5.4 percent.
German carmakers had the biggest share of overall sales, led by Volkswagen which accounted for 22.1 percent of new registrations, KBA calculated.
Daimler's Mercedes and VW's Audi brands came next, accounting for 9.4 percent of overall sales.
Taking the first four months as a whole, new registrations rose by 2.9 percent to 985,850 units, KBA calculated.
