Washington - APS

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) predicts Algeria’s gross domestic product (GDP) to grow by 4% in 2015 against 3.8% in 2014, and this, in a context where the world growth forecasts were also revised downwards because of risks of stagnation in the advanced countries, drop in growth in emerging countries as well as geopolitical tensions.
In its report on the global economic prospects, published Tuesday on the occasion of the holding of its annual assembly, scheduled from 10 to 12 October in Washington, it was noted that the Fund slightly revised downwards its forecast on Algeria’s GDP growth compared to its forecasts in its global report of April 2014.
Six months ago, the institution of Bretton Woods expected for Algeria a growth of 4.3% in 2014 and 4.1% in 2015.
IMF said that Algeria’s current balance of payment will be negative to stand at -3% of GDP in 2014 and -2.9% in 2015 against +0.4% in 2013.
In its April’s forecast, IMF expected a positive current balance of payments with +0.5% of GDP in 2014 and -1.3% of GDP in 2015.
