Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) demonstrated its continuous support for workers rights with the declaration of results of the Alba Labour Union Elections that took place on October 12 & 13, 2011.
The candidates; Yasser Abdulla Ahmed Al Hujairi, Ahmed Janahi, Basem Kuwaitan, Abdulla Ali Abdulla, Ali Hussain Ghuloom, Abdulla Mahdi Hasan Al Marraj, Ali Ahmed Yousif, Ali Abul Hassan, Habib Jalil Dashti, Ahmed Khalifa Al Khuzaie, Abdulla Hamza, Ali Al Binali, Wadeea Isa Juma, Abbas A Rahim Mahmood, and Hassan Saleh Al Ansari were elected to the Alba Labour Union Board.
2,553 employees - comprising 75 per cent of the workforce - voted in the Alba Labour Union Elections.
The fifteen-member Alba Labour Union Board was elected for a three-year term. Amongst their various responsibilities, the Board will be addressing workers’ grievances as well as representing workers’ concerns before management.

The elections demonstrate the triumph of democratic principles as employees came in full force to exercise their voting rights.

The elections were conducted as per Subject 32 of the Internal Rules of the Alba Labour Union. Accordingly, registrations for candidacy for the elections were opened on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 and the registrations closed on Thursday, October 6, 2011.
