 Tokyo stocks continued their slide on Thursday, sending a key index to the lowest closing level in one month on concern over US and European economies and the first American case of Ebola.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) plunged 420.26 points, or 2.61 percent, from Wednesday to 15,661.99, the lowest closing level since Sept. 1.
The broader Tokyo Stock Price Index, which includes all shares on the TSE's first section, was down 38.06 points, or 2.89 percent, to 1,280.15, with all 33 subindexes ending in negative territory. In the currency market, at 4 p.m. (0700 GMT), the US dollar traded at JPY 108.85-88 against JPY 108.84-94 in New York and JPY 109.84-86 in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
