The US Senate on Wednesday confirmed Michael
Froman as US trade representative to succeed Ron Kirk, who stepped
down in March, dpa reported.
Froman, currently a deputy national security adviser focusing on
international economics, was confirmed by 93-4.
President Barack Obama said he was pleased with the Senate's
"Mike has been my closest advisor on a broad range of
international economic issues and will continue to play a key role on
my economic team," Obama said.
