A roadside bomb struck a military vehicle in Uruzgan province, southern Afghanistan, on Wednesday, killing an Afghan soldier and injuring another, a local official said.
"A mine planted by militants struck a military vehicle in Kakrak area outside provincial capital Trinkot at around 09:00 a.m. local time today, leaving an Afghan solider dead and injuring another," a senior police officer in the province, Gulab Khan, told reporters.
Taliban militants who are largely relying on suicide and roadside bombings have yet to claim responsibility.
