Sudanese President Omar al Bashir reiterated his country's keenness to resume the peace process.

In a speech at the General Sudanese Students' Union, Bashir said peace is considered the cornerstone of the national dialogue.

"We want to unite Sudanese people via national identity and eliminate the tribal system and calls that aim to divide and weaken Sudan," the president said.

He also welcomed those who reacted to peace calls, renounced violence and contributed to building the country.

Bashir stressed that colonization still aims to seize Africa's treasures, pointing out at Sudan's role in Arab and African issues and underlining that Sudan is ready to receive students from war-torn countries, Yemen and Syria.
