Two makeshift bombs placed beneath a high-voltage power transmission tower on Aswan-Cairo road went off early Monday.
No word of casualties was reported.
The explosion, which occurred in front of Banbat village, caused no damage.
Sappers rushed to the scene and were able to dismantle 10 more bombs that were also placed under two power towers.
An investigation has been launched.
