Eight Libyan soldiers were wounded as a suicide bomber detonated himself in the eastern city of El Kobba, a military official said on Tuesday.
The soldiers were moved to a nearby hospital, the official said.
He referred to a tip-off that a suspicious vehicle had entered the city to carry out another attack.
Soldiers are trying to find the car, he said.
