French Prime Minister Manuel Valls called on Muslims in France to combat extremism by showing the real image of Islam.

"We must say all of this is not Islam," Valls told at a conference that was intended to foster stronger ties with the Muslim community in the country.

Five months after an extremist attack on the French satirical weekly newspaper Charlie Hebdo in Paris, Valls said that Islam, the second largest religion in the country, would stay in France.

Valls acknowledged, however, that some in France reject Islam, adding that Islam provokes prejudices and misunderstandings.
