Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini said here Friday keeping in mind the IRI President’s special interest and authorities given to Supreme Cinema Council we predict a bright future prospect for Iranian cinema.
According to a Friday report by an IRNA Culture Desk reporter, Hosseini who was speaking at a press conference at the Glorious Qur’an Exhibition added, “At the first session of the Supreme Cinema Council (SCC) it was decided that such an organization should be legally established, and that is a matter that should have been proposed and approved at the Supreme Administrative Affairs Council of the Country, which has already been accomplished.”
He said, “The Cinematography Deputy of the Culture Ministry had limited monetary credits, but turning it into an organization would also increase its credit.”
The Deputy Head of the SCC reiterated, “When the discussion over a cinema organization is put on the table it means that greater attention is going to be paid to this field, and that initiative is in need of greater monetary credits.”
Hosseini added, “The rules and regulation on cinema need to be revised thoroughly and a comprehensive set of rules and regulations in this field should be devised.”
The Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister reiterated, “If there are legal deficiencies the Islamic Parliament, Majlis, should address the matter, and if there is no need to new laws and a comprehensive set of rules and regulations would suffice, the Government and the Ministry can take care of the matter, so that the cinema regulations would be both updated and made quite clear.”
The Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister stressed that ever since the initiation of the issue on the establishment of a cinema organization we invited the entire people who have ideas about the matter, requesting them to put forth their proposals and ideas.
He added, “The problem we are faced with today is the opinions proposed by those who are quite unaware about the issue, who talk based on their presumptions.”
Hosseini said that such faulty evaluations create disturbances in the process of the work, emphasizing, “We pursue the matter seriously, but not hastily, because the foundation of this job needs to be put strongly and precisely, so as to enable the new organization to minimize the problems of the country’s cinema, and aim at total elimination of them.”
