Mustapha Ben Boulaid, a historical movie by Algerian director Ahmed Rachedi, competes at the fourth Arab Film Festival in Amman, Jordan (July 14-20), the event's organizers have announced.
Produced in 2008, Mustapha Benboulaid (120mn) relates the story of one of the historical leaders of the Algerian Revolution against French occupation (1954-1962).
It deals with the political and military activities of Mustapha Benboulaid, who was the chief of historical wilaya one (Aures), while shedding light on the political context of the period just before the outbreak of Algeria's war of independence.
The feature film, to be screened in the presence of the filmmaker, is scheduled along with six other Arab films, including "They're the Dogs," by Moroccan Hichem Lasri, "Bastardo," by Tunisian Nejib Belkadi, and "Meriem," by Syrian Bassel Khatib.
Created in 2011 by Jordan's Royal Film Commission, Amman's Arab Film Festival is a meeting place for Arab film professionals.
