October marks the third anniversary of the El-Sakia String Orchestra. The El-Sakia String Orchestra was formed in October 2010 with the aim of promoting classical music. Through the string orchestra, young people gain easy access to classical music values at the popular Culturewheel venue in Zamalek.
Over the past three years, the orchestra has given concerts on the second Tuesday of each month. Exceptionally, the anniversary concert will take place on Friday 19 October.
El-Sakia String Orchestra will perform G. Bizet's L’Arlesienne Suite No. 1, arranged by William Ryden, C. M. V. Weber's Clarinet Qunitet Op. 34 and Mussorgsky's Pictures in an Exhibition, arranged by Robert G. Patterson.
The orchestra will be conducted by its founder and principal conductor Mohamed Saad Basha, with clarinetist Sherif El-Razzaz as soloist.
