London - Arab Today

Nestled amid the humiliating demise of an unpopular war and the scandalous resignation of a once-powerful president is a snippet of time often overlooked and misunderstood. It could be argued, nonetheless, as this new novel does, that one will discover, hidden inside this intriguing snapshot, the most profound evolutionary transformation in the country’s history.
Born through the embarrassment of a lost war, and empowered by the student riots that facilitated its conclusion, came an emboldened generation like none before it. For this rebellious alliance, it was a time of rebirth and newfound freedoms. If the establishment had been wrong about the war, what else could it have been wrong about? Possibly everything!
No sooner had the rioters retreated than suddenly, the “sex, drugs, and rock ’n’ roll” attitude that swept through every college campus in the country stepped in. There were streakers, sex parties, burn-the-bra bonfires, no rules and no responsibilities. It was a time of discovery and unbridled independence. It was a time for learning. It was a time for growing up.
Left alone to craft their own rules, an entire generation decided it needed none. Learning from the past became a thing of the past. On their own, they were left to discover their own limitations, and that is exactly what they did.
Storyline: The year is 1973, and the small college town is Gainesville, Fla. Reagan Davis is an incoming freshman with rugged good looks, a somewhat shy personality, and a girl-crazy agenda. Conservative, loving parents with strong political beliefs have raised Reagan to work hard and to stay out of trouble.
The freedom of being away from home, however, is overwhelming, and Reagan finds himself walking a fine line between his parents’ mandates and his individual desires. While settling into college life and trying to come to terms with his personal priorities, he strives to strike a balance. This is a balance that will prove essential as he watches those around him suffer the harsh consequences of living life on the edge.
