Hamideh Kaffash, Iranian student

Hamideh Kaffash, an Iranian student who has studied in Norway for one year, will have to leave Norway before Sept. 15 after her application for a visa renewal has been denied, reported the Norwegian newspaper Adresseavisen on Friday.
Hamideh and several other Iranian master's and doctoral students at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) have had problems with visa extension.
The Norwegian security agency PST fears that the knowledge they would gain from their studies in Norway can be used to make nuclear weapons.
"This is very strange to me. I am just an ordinary student, I have not done anything wrong," Hamideh was quoted as saying.
In June, a demonstration was held in support of students from Iran, drawing about 130 participants in Trondheim, a coastal city in central Norway, where the NTNU is located.
Neither NTNU management nor teachers understand why the Iranian fellows are to be expelled, said the Norwegian news agency NTB.
Similar demonstrations were also staged in the Norwegian cities of Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger and Narvik.
NTNU has currently more than 100 students from Iran.
Many other Iranian students at NTNU now fear that they will face the same situation when their visas need to be renewed.
