Aviation and a large number of personnel on the ground are looking for the missing 21-year-old Russian student Aleksandr Sagiyev in Wyoming, Khalit Aisin, Consul-Counselor at Russia's Consulate-General in Seattle, told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
The diplomat said, "The missing student's mother, who resides in Nizhny NovgoroDENTd, as well as Wyoming authorities first applied to Russia's Consulate General". "All possible efforts have been made since Monday in a search for Sagiyev, with as many people as possible participating. Aviation is also used. The search zone is expected to be expanded from Thursday," he said.
"So far, neither we nor Wyoming authorities have available any information as to whereabouts of Aleksandr Sagiyev," the diplomat added. "This matter is being monitored by Russia's Consulate General in Seattle," Khalit Aisin pointed out.
Itar-Tass correspondent Sergey Khabotin has reported from New York that police of the American town of Moose in Wyoming had announced the disappearance of the Russian student who had worked during the "summer semester" in Grand Teton National Park.
According to police, Sagiyev was last seen over the past weekend in a local pizzeria bar where he was speaking over a mobile phone.
