Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah underlined here on Monday the significance of promoting young people's craft works so as to preserve Kuwait's craft heritage.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a crafts heritage forum held by Bayt Lothan, a non-profit organization whose primary objective is to nurture arts and crafts in Kuwait, the minister said it is necessary to display and encourage young people's distinctive and creative crafts production.
He thanked Bayt Lothan and its director-general Sheikh Farah Al-Sabah for linking this forum and its exhibition to the country's national celebrations, including the recent UN honoring of His Highness the Amir as a "Humanitarian Leader" and Kuwait as a "Humanitarian Center".
Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud, who doubles as Chairman of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL), appreciated such efforts that are primarily intended to attract schoolchildren's attention to arts and crafts exhibitions.
For her part, Sheikh Farah Al-Sabah said the event mainly aims to promote traditional crafts, calling for familiarizing young people with such crafts.
This year's exhibition gives young craftsmen an opportunity to show their products, she pointed out.
