GCC information and media officials are discussing 'new media' and documentaries in Kuwait on Sunday, said Kuwait's Information Minister, who chairs the GCC Joint Program Production Institution.
The issue of new media has taken major priority, Information Minister Sheikh Mohammad Abdallah Al-Sabah told attendees of the meeting, while producing documentaries aimed at promoting the concept of the GCC to the outside world is another.
New media is a term used to define modern media interaction between host and receiver anytime and in any place on digital devices as well as other media tools.
The plans aim to highlight the GCC's aspirations to progress on issues of mutual importance on the domestic scale as well as that of its Arab counterparts, the GCC Joint Program Production Institution's Executive Director Abdulmohsin Al-Bannay said.
This vision will focus on producing programs that promote realised achievements on the local and regional scales and document the road to development in a transparent manner, he added.
Absent from the talks was the Saudi delegation on grounds of the passing of their Crown Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
In his speech, Information Minister Sheikh Mohammad expressed his heartfelt sorrow over the loss of the senior official, who passed away in Geneva on Saturday while receiving treatment.
