The Syndicate of Journalists on Monday condemned an assault by a lawmaker on a reporter of privately-owned Al Watan daily, calling on the parliament to investigate the incident .
In a statement, the syndicate stressed it will not accept that any journalist be insulted.
"The role of the House of Representatives is to defend the citizens' rights rather than assault them and those who report the truth," it said.
The syndicate asserted that it will not allow such abuse against its members to be repeated.
