The Journal quoted Prince Dr. Turki Ibn Saud Ibn Mohammed, the City's Vice President for Research Institutes as saying, "We have decided from the outset that the level of scientific research must be upgraded to a high degree to familiarize our researchers with strong competition and mechanisms of assessment. We have chosen AAAS because of its experience as well as being a leading scientific organization, which has conducted assessment mechanisms of this kind in the United States of America and elsewhere. In our opinion, it is the appropriate organization for working with it. "
